Residential, commercial and cultural space in the historic Altstadt
Between 2007 and 2010, IDR worked on a complex development project that combined different uses on Ratinger Strasse at the heart of Düsseldorf’s historic district, the “Altstadt”. Behind the historic facade of the building at Ratinger Strasse 25, IDR developed Ratinger Mauer, an attractive property with approx. 2,400 m² of high quality residential and office space on the top floor, and the Schlösser brewery’s “Quartier Bohème”, which connects up to the Henkel-Saal that was built in 2009 on the ground floor. The flexibly designed 500 m² location is equipped with the very latest technology and can cater to events of any size. On the northern side of the Ratinger Mauer commercial property, IDR implemented a development project in collaboration with the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to extend the K20 art museum by an additional 2,000 m² of exhibition space – an investment of around EUR 40 million. The new underground car park with some 200 parking spaces under the two buildings was also an IDR development project.
